Aris Sherman II Mod by Aristoteles

Rugged, simple in design, easy to maintain and repair, and fast. The Sherman was an excellent tank with an incredibly long life; a number remained in service in some parts of the world for five decades after the end of World War II.
Sherman IIs in NWE were only issued to the 4th Independent Armoured Brigade so I just added two decal options.

  1. It’s interesting what you say about Shermans at war; my mother was engaged to a trooper of the 4/7th Royal Dragoon Guards in the Normandy campaign, they were equipped with various Shermans and of course every 4th tank was a Firefly. The impression my mum got (and related to me after the war), was that they also thought the Sherman was a great tank – until they took it into combat with the Germans in 1944, in other words it was a great peacetime tank! They lived in constant fear of being easily outgunned (except the firefly, his tank was a regular Sherman) and especially out-armoured which applied to everyone. Pretty soon they nicknamed the Sherman as the “ronson” because it burnt so easily. The Germans called it the “tommy cooker”. I think it was a great tank in the Pacific and in N. Africa, after that it became a death trap. Sheer numbers of course prevailed – but at an enormous cost.
