WWII Combat Sounds Compilation by Audgisil

Over the years there have been a number of sound mods. This mod borrows heavily from those previous efforts, but I couldn’t even begin to say which files are from which various different authors. However, they deserve the lion’s share of the credit here.

So what makes this mod unique?

  1. I have tried hard to strike the right balance between overall quality and individual file sizes. Also, this mod only replaces the existing sound files without adding additional ones in order to maintain good overall performance.
  2. It focuses on combat sounds (weapons, shots, explosions) and voices. This is where I feel that Combat Mission’s default sounds are a little lackluster.
  3. I’ve concentrated on realism with an emphasis on distinct weapon sounds at appropriate relative decibel levels (I’ve heavily altered many of these), realistic bullet snaps, etc. I’ve also mixed and matched a lot of voice files so it doesn’t always sound like the same person speaking.
  4. This mod is compatible with all current WWII Combat Mission titles (CMBN, CMFI, CMRT, CMFB)

  1. Thanks for this upload and all the work. However it’s impossible (at least for me) to download the file because the download is very slow and always gets interrupted at about 50%. Any way for a different download location (Dropbox maybe)? Thanks a lot.

  2. Thanks a lot for the new link (which is working like a charm by the way) and the very good compilation. A also finished my own a few months ago and know that’s a lot of work involved. I also prefer the idea of a balanced compilation. Thanks again!

  3. This looks really good, thanks. I am very new to this and before I use this excellent mod can I just check that after I unzip it, I take all the files out of their folders and put then in the z folder or do I just drop the Audgisil_WW2_Sounds folder in the z folder. Thanks again for all your hard work.

    • Hi Trev,

Thank you for the positive Feedback. Sorry that I negelected to include a readme. You can simply drop the entire Audgisil_WW2_Sounds Folder into your z Folder. You could also take all of the files out of their folders and dump them all in the z Folder as well. Everything would still work perfectly well. You would simply lose the nice file structure that tells you quickly what Sounds are for what. Leaving them all in the different folders lets you easily remove certain parts of the mod or find and replace certain sounds if you wanted to mix and match from different mods for example.

      • Thanks for the quick reply, I think keeping the file structure is the way ahead, as you said you can tell at a glance what everything does. Thanks again, this is such a good game. Trev

  4. I just downloaded, unzipped, and put it into the CMFB mods folder. I like it! The best improvement I’ve heard (in a movie turn I watched) is the voices – which prompted me to search for the sound mod in the first place. Now it sounds more natural, rather than a bunch of cloned sergeants all saying the same thing all the time. Thanks for the mod. 🙂
