Looks really great. Love the numbered turret options 🙂

  2. Can somebody please explain to me what the Germans were thinking of sending this deadly but clumsy leviathan into the poor road network of the Ardennes in the middle of winter? I mean just traversing the turret must have been a nightmare in the midst of all those trees, let alone crossing the bridges and negotiating all those hairpin bends. Talk about shooting themselves in the foot…

Good question. So many aspects of the operation were flawed. However, I think their size was a blessing and a curse. The roads quickly became very muddy, which the wide tracks helped to overcome. Yet they could not traverse many of the smaller bridges, which limited where they could go and some village streets are very narrow. Surprisingly, they managed to get them quite some distance – to Stavelot and La Gleize, for example – but fuel shortages and determined US forces brought an end to their efforts. At the end of the day, I’m not sure whether they fared much worse than any other panzer.
